WHO IS MUSIC OF THE SPHERES PIANOWORKS?
Music of the Spheres Pianoworks is a full piano restoration shop dedicated to the principle of growth in quality rather than size. We are constantly searching for materials and methodology to improve the processes and end results of our work-- a fine piano given a new lifetime. All of our work is by contract; we do not buy and sell, nor are we affiliated with any manufacturer or dealer. Most of our work is for individual clients (many around the country), but, as well, we have worked for many of Chicago's major institutions including Lyric Opera, many colleges and universities, and an array of major churches. Further references from many of our clients can be provided on request. Music of the Spheres Pianoworks was started in Washington DC in 1971 by Paul Revenko-Jones. He subsequently moved the business to Chicago where Oksana joined the business in 1990. Paul is a long-time Registered Member of the Piano Technicians Guild. As well as running a full restoration shop, and with a substantial outside tuning and repair clientele, he travels extensively during the year teaching various topics in piano technology to other chapters of the PTG, at regional meetings, and at the annual National meeting. Oksana has assisted in these classes, also, and is a very talented in-shop technician as well as a tuner in her own right. Both Paul and Oksana also operate The Chicago School for Piano Technology. The name of the business, Music of the Spheres, derives from the fragmented
writings of the pre-Socratic philosopher Pythagoras, the grandfather of
the modern musical scale. He surmised that the planets in their orbits
move harmonically, and because of their movement leave behind them a great
tonal resonance. We prefer to believe this.
